Holy shit, it's back! Looking forward to seeing what's new, and what's changed about the old stuff - lots I remember moving *down* the list is promising. Good to see N'Dour appear, love that guy - if I were to make these lists (And I'd love to at some point!) he'd be a shoe-in for the 80s, 90s and 2000s. I remember seeing a whole bunch of African stuff being recommended for inclusion in the comments section of the old version, which is how I discovered Omona Wapi and Synchro System, but not how I discovered Orchestra Baobab's Mouhamadou Bamba (one of my favourite records!). I'm sure you're aware of all these, so I'm interested in seeing what appears and what doesn't, and learning why, over the coming weeks. Great follow-through on making the 50th post a big one :)
Oh, also and obligatory comment that the original got me into, like, everything i managed to listen to from it and ended up being very formative on some cores of my music taste and even my attitude to approaching music (I probably would have kept burrowing into harsh noise if you hadn't put two Madonna albums on, and I'm a much better person for it lol)
It's back!!! Love N'Dour but for the 90s I think only Set might make it in - what's your pick for him that decade? (Agreed that he's a shoe-in for the 00s).
It would be Set, yeah - not a decade I've heard everything from him in but I don't need any specific context to appreciate all the glorious, muscling, interlocking instruments there. Only heard it this past summer and the title track practically immediately became one of my favourite pieces of music.
love that you included the walking on here, and love that you brought up genesis in your review since it's always reminded me of them. looking forward to the next parts!

That's very touching of you to say! Hope you find more to love here.

Set (the song) is great and the album is better than The Lion. There's a great album within Eyes Open but it's too long.
I'll check out Eyes Open, see if I can make a good playlist :) cheers!

I wish someone turned me onto the album sooner! I only discovered it this year and fell in love immediately
some surprise entries so far but very interested in seeing how this develops. great work.
I don’t think there are 100 great albums from the 80s?
Watch this space because I'm naming 100.
I’m all eyes! 🙂
